📚 2. Free Activity Books for Rising Kindergarten & First Grade Girls

Girls entering kindergarten or first grade this fall can receive three free activity booklets by mail through our Get Ready with Girl Scouts program! These engaging, screen-free activities build social and emotional skills while sparking curiosity and confidence—all from the comfort of home.

Plus, new members who join now are eligible to attend these events—no waiting required!

🎁 4. Get the Most Out of Your Membership with Extended Year

Stanly County Girl Scouts Honor Troops and Volunteers at Annual Awards Ceremony
Celebrating Service and Sisterhood
This past weekend, the Stanly County Girl Scout Service Unit gathered for one of the most meaningful traditions of the year—its Annual Awards Ceremony. With proud parents, families, and friends in attendance, the event was a heartfelt celebration of all that Girl Scouts accomplished this year—from bold adventures to quiet leadership, troop teamwork to individual growth.

Held in a spirit of joy and gratitude, the ceremony spotlighted the dedication of our Girl Scouts and the volunteers who support them every step of the way. Cheers and applause filled the room as girls were recognized for their achievements and troops were honored for their collective impact.

Among the evening’s highlights was the presentation of two prestigious awards:

Becoming Her: A Day of Mental Wellness
A Recap of Connection, Care, and Community

On a bright and hopeful day at Great Wolf Lodge, Girl Scouts and their families came together for a powerful experience centered around something we all need: mental wellness. Our first annual Becoming Her: A Day of Mental Wellness was more than just an event—it was a celebration of self-care, community, and the importance of showing up for ourselves and each other.

Hosted by our Program Department, this special day brought together Girl Scouts, caregivers, and volunteers for a lineup of workshops, conversations, and meaningful moments designed to promote well-being and connection. From mindfulness activities to open discussions about emotional health, every element was thoughtfully crafted with care. A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who attended, participated, and supported the day. Your positive energy made the experience truly unforgettable!

Throughout the day, we watched Girl Scouts and their adults engage with intention—listening, sharing, and building community. The feedback we’ve received since has been overwhelmingly positive, with many asking: “Will there be a Becoming Her 2026?” We love that question and it speaks volumes about the impact of the day.

Thank you again to everyone who helped make this event such a success. We’re proud to continue supporting the mental wellness of our Girl Scouts and can’t wait to build on this momentum together.

A Morning at the Sullenberger Aviation Museum
Learning, Leading, and Connecting

At Girl Scouts, Hornets’ Nest Council, we’re always looking for ways to grow—not just as individuals, but as an organization. As we continue exploring new strategy ideas, we had the chance last week to connect with another mission-driven organization for a powerful peer learning experience.

Thanks to our friends at SchermCo, we were introduced to the team at the Sullenberger Aviation Museum, who graciously welcomed us for a behind-the-scenes tour and an in-depth conversation about their strategic approach and operations. From the moment we arrived, their team offered insight into everything from visitor engagement to long-term planning—providing ideas and inspiration directly tied to the questions we’ve been exploring. It was incredibly valuable to sit down with another organization that shares our commitment to community impact, and to learn from their experiences.

The conversation gave us new perspectives and practical ideas to bring back to our own work as we shape the future of Girl Scouting in our region. We’re grateful to SchermCo not only for their guidance and partnership, but for leveraging their network to foster meaningful connections like this one. It’s yet another example of how collaboration strengthens us all.

Thank you to the team at Sullenberger Aviation Museum for your time, transparency, and thoughtful conversation—and to SchermCo for making it happen. We left feeling inspired, informed, and ready to keep growing!

Cookie Bosses Take on the Whitewater Center
A Sweet Celebration of Success!

On Saturday, May 17, Girl Scouts from across our region came together for a day of celebration and adventure at the U.S. National Whitewater Center—a reward for their incredible achievements during the 2025 Cookie Program!

This wasn’t just a day of fun—it was a well-earned celebration of the hard work, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit these girls brought to the table all cookie season long. From goal-setting and customer service to managing inventory and building confidence, our Girl Scouts weren’t just selling cookies—they were learning skills that will last a lifetime. Their efforts supported future troop adventures, community service projects, and leadership opportunities, all while showing the world what girls can do when they set their minds to something big.

The Whitewater Center provided the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable day. Girls challenged themselves on ziplines, tackled obstacle courses, and cheered each other on through every twist and turn—just like they did all season. To every Girl Scout who participated in the Cookie Program: we’re proud of you! You dreamed big, worked hard, and made it happen.

And if you’re already dreaming about next year’s cookie season (we know some of you are!), don’t forget to vote for your favorite rewards and help shape the 2026 Cookie Program!
